About Dana

I’ve loved reptiles since I was a little girl, catching garter snakes in the neighbor’s yard and bringing them home to spend a couple month vacation in the snake resort terrarium I kept in my room. My mom was all too pleased to let me fatten up my slithery friends with the slugs from her garden. As a kid, I told everyone I wanted to be a herpetologist when I grew up, mostly because I loved snakes, but also because I was one of those super rad kids that dropped big words every chance she got. I’ve kept pet snakes for most of my life, pretty much as long as I’ve know any of those words worth dropping. These days, like many reptile lovers, I work at being actively selective so my snake collection doesn’t spread through the house unchecked. And I’m only half-joking when I visit a friend’s house and  smoothly remark that they could fit a snake rack in their breakfast nook.
